# 🧩 Bio

Born and raised in the heart of Spanish Harlem, Maya Santos was always the "weird artsy kid" with paint on her jeans and clay under her fingernails. Her mutant gene activated at 15, triggered by a near-miss car accident that should have shattered her bones. Instead, the concrete around her seemed to melt at her panicked touch—reshaping itself to cushion her fall.

Experimentation revealed that Maya could reshape and sculpt any solid material she could touch, as easily as molding clay. Over time, she discovered a secondary mutation: the ability to generate and manipulate superheated plasma—using it to cut, fuse, or even create dazzling kinetic murals in midair.

She became a local legend—"the girl who can fix a busted fire hydrant or weld a sculpture with her bare hands"—before going public as Mosaic, founding Nyx Collective with Adrian, Tory, and others. Her younger brother Diego is just beginning to manifest powers of his own.

# 💥 Powers

Power Rank Description
Mosaic Reshaping Remarkable (30) On touch, can fracture and reconfigure non-living solid material (stone, metal, glass, brick, plastic, wood, etc.) within a roughly room-sized volume. The surface breaks into controllable "tiles" and facets that she can slide, stack, bend, or flow into new shapes: ramps, barricades, cages, tunnels, or sculptural forms. She cannot change the material type or total mass, and cannot affect living tissue—only the environment and objects. When she stops focusing or moves too far away, the structure "sets" and behaves like normal, solid matter in its new configuration.
Plasma Generation Excellent (20) Can generate and control superheated plasma from her hands and forearms, primarily as a close- to mid-range tool: cutters, welding torches, whips, flares, or searing touch attacks. Distinctive color: gold–pink–white, with swirling graffiti-like trails. Wide-area or sustained blasts are possible but draining.
Plasma Weaving Good (10) Combines plasma with reshaped material, lacing the "seams" between tiles with low-volume plasma to briefly reinforce walls, platforms, and constructs to superhuman durability, or to etch glowing lines and sigils across surfaces. Effects last only minutes under stress before cooling and reverting to normal integrity.
Artisan's Mosaic N/A Anything she reshapes by hand is left with a subtle, shifting color pattern—her signature "mosaic." Objects and structures she's worked carry enhanced stability and aesthetic impact, making her field fortifications harder to dislodge and her art pieces instantly recognizable and coveted. Narrative flavor rather than a separate attack power.
Artisan's Touch N/A Anything she molds by hand is supernaturally beautiful and durable. Her street art becomes urban legend, and even battlefield fortifications carry a unique signature.
Short-Range Mobility Good (10) Uses plasma bursts for quick leaps, flips, and short-distance "flying." More like parkour on steroids than true flight.

# 🧩 Talents

  • Urban Artistry (murals, sculpture, metalwork, glasswork)
  • Acrobatics & Parkour (learned from running rooftops and fire escapes)
  • Multilingual (Spanish, English; street Spanglish slang)
  • Streetwise (NYC neighborhoods)
  • Community Organizing / Youth Outreach
  • Plasma Welding / Fabrication
  • Quick-Think Construction ("build anything in 60 seconds")

# Contacts

  • Diego Santos (younger brother, manifesting powers)
  • Nyx Collective (Adrian, Tory, Kimi, Emi, Allyson)
  • Spanish Harlem community network — local kids, mural patrons, neighborhood elders
  • "Tag" — mysterious urban vandal/meta, ongoing sculpture-duel rivalry
  • NYPD, local politicians, and community activists who all know Mosaic by reputation

# 🧭 Personality & Narrative Notes

  • Creative Dynamo: Never sits still; always sketching, tagging, or shaping something.
  • Protector of Community: Uses powers to fix, beautify, and defend her neighborhood; refuses to let the city eat its own.
  • Latina Pride: Wears her Puerto Rican heritage and NYC roots as a badge; her art reflects her story.
  • Big Sister Energy: Fiercely protective of Diego; loves mentoring younger mutants and local kids.
  • Vivid & Outspoken: Loves attention and spectacle, but quick to defend the voiceless.

# Speech & Accent

  • Maya's voice is pure Uptown NYC: rapid, musical, and peppered with both English and Spanish—she code-switches effortlessly mid-sentence.
  • Drops "yo," "for real," and "deadass" in casual talk, and her "r's" are soft, sometimes rolled if she's talking to family.
  • Uses Spanglish, especially with close friends ("Oye, that's mad sketch, ¿entiendes?"), and often ends statements with a rhetorical "right?" or "ya tú sabes."
  • When animated, her hands move as fast as her words—she'll talk over people without meaning to, then double back with a "my bad, keep going."
  • Neighborhood slang is woven into everything, but she's careful to enunciate and slow down when talking to kids or outsiders.
  • Her laugh is bold and infectious—she'll tease, throw shade, and build you up all in the same breath.

Example: "Nah, I got this, chill—unless you wanna get smoked in front of the whole block. Deadass, I'll make it look pretty, too. ¡Vamos, let's go!"

# Appearance

5'5", 130 lbs, athletic-acrobat build from years of rooftop parkour. Curly black hair with constantly rotating dyed tips; amber brown eyes; warm Puerto Rican complexion. Visible art: mosaic geometric tattoo on left forearm, watercolor plasma burst across right shoulder, "Con Corazón" lettered on the back of her neck. Civilian look skews paint-spattered cargos, cropped tanks, layered chains, and whatever shoes she can sprint in.

# Costume — Mosaic

Color-blocked tactical streetwear in gold, pink, and white to match her plasma palette: armored vest over a cropped long-sleeve, reinforced cargo pants, gloves cut at the palms so she can touch material directly, low-top sneakers tagged with her own art. The whole kit reads "graffiti artist who got serious," not "superhero in spandex."

# ✴️ Visual Signature

  • When using powers, her hands glow gold-pink-white, with plasma tracing up her forearms like swirling graffiti.
  • Anything she molds by touch is left with a subtle, shifting color pattern—her "signature mosaic."
  • During plasma shaping, swirling auroras and sparks frame her movements—like kinetic performance art.

# 📋 Notes

  • Mosaic Reshaping is touch-based and limited to non-living material; she can't disarm with it directly, only the environment around the target.
  • Plasma is her offensive output but her Endurance is only Excellent (20) — wide-area sustained use is exhausting.
  • Health 70 is comparatively low; she should be playing terrain control and mobility, not standing in a slugfest.

# 🪶 Narrative Hooks

  • Her art often doubles as coded messages to Nyx Collective and community members.
  • NYPD, local politicians, and community activists all know Mosaic—sometimes as a hero, sometimes as a problem.
  • Has a running "sculpture duel" rivalry with a mysterious urban vandal/meta known only as "Tag."
  • Her little brother Diego is beginning to manifest powers—Maya is both proud and anxious for him.
