# 🧩 Bio
Adrian Sutton was born in Linden, New Jersey, the younger of two brothers. His parents, Malcolm and Elaine Sutton, were ordinary people in an extraordinary world — his father a civil engineer, his mother a high-school English teacher who filled their house with books and music. His older brother Nick was the athlete, the confident one. Adrian was the quiet kid who read too much and listened harder than he talked.
Adrian's mutation expresses as a bio-energetic lattice — a subdermal organ network that absorbs, amplifies, and projects kinetic energy. The car crash that killed his family when he was thirteen triggered his mutation, discharging the impact force as a radiant shockwave and saving his life. He learned through trial and error to control the power, or at least to keep it suppressed.
His mutation makes him a living engine of impact: every blow hits like a meteor, every strike feeds his endurance. He is dead set on not letting himself and Tory drift apart through inaction again.

# 💥 Powers
| Power | Rank | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Energy Aura (Force Field vs Physical/Energy) | Incredible (40) | Glowing blue-white corona surrounds his body, deflecting physical and energy attacks (-4CS reduction). Absorbs energy to temporarily boost Strength/Endurance +1CS for 1 round. Toggles on/off; overuse risks feedback drain. |
| Energy Melee (Hypertrophy/Enhancement - Str + Energy Touch) | Amazing (50) | Fists and strikes wreathe in crackling pulse energy, adding rank to Strength damage (e.g., Monstrous punch reaches Unearthly). Causes stun/disruption (yellow Endurance FEAT to resist). Stunt: Charged Smash (AoE cone, Remarkable (30) to 3 targets). |
| Energy Absorption (Resistance - Energy/Force) | Remarkable (30) | Absorbs enemy energy blasts or kinetic force to heal 1d10 Health or empower aura/melee (+1CS intensity). Limited vs psionic/magic. |
| Flight (Energy Propulsion) | Excellent (20) | Achieves flight by blasting charged plasma from his hands and feet, leaving a crackling trail of light; max ~160 mph, maneuverable, always mutant (never mechanical). |

# 🧭 Personality & Narrative Notes
- Lowkey Artist: He avoids open mics, jam sessions, and has zero "musician performer" ego. He occasionally will play a set somewhere, but usually only as a favor to the venue owner, or because someone he wants to work with wants to do the set.
- Validation Is for Amateurs: Feels no need to be seen as a "hero" or to impress anyone with his powers, intellect, or creativity. He's not running from insecurity—he just genuinely doesn't care what strangers think.
- Anti-Showboat: Finds most public displays of talent cringeworthy. If stuck in a room with a busker or subway mariachi, his fantasy is that every citizen should be legally allowed to kill one a year—no trial, no paperwork, just "thank you for your service" and move on.
- Sharp, Dry Humor: His sarcasm is bone-deep, used to skewer pretension or break tension, not to dodge real stakes or avoid vulnerability. He doesn't reflexively undercut emotion—when things get heavy, he lets them.
- Low-Drama, Low-Profile: Prefers the background. If thrust into the spotlight, he'll minimize, redirect, or vanish at the earliest chance. If credited as a "great hero," he's more likely to laugh or roll his eyes than bask.
- Stubborn Individualist: Has a code and follows it—quietly. Helps others because he chooses to, not for applause or legacy.
- A Little Bit Mean (in the Best Way): Will absolutely roast anyone who thinks busking is "free expression." In Adrian's world, busking is the original crime.
- Contrarian: He has strong opinions. He doesn't hide them. The opinions are often in opposition to "conventional" wisdom. For example, he hates Dylan and Springsteen. He viscerally loathes Leonard Cohen's voice. He has reasons to hate most musicians that critics adore. The only notable exception is that he doesn't hate Billy Joel, but does insist that the song "Piano Man" is poorly named and should have been named "Harmonica Man" instead. He refuses to buy hot sauce and doesn't keep it in his house, insisting people should develop a taste palette instead of scorching their taste buds. He likes artists that experiment with music organically (such as Led Zeppelin on III, or Metallica on Load/Reload) as opposed to ones that are chasing trends or what critics think works. (Exception: He adores Jethro Tull's Thick as a Brick as a rebuke to a critic that said that Aqualung was too progressive and conceptual. He adores A Passion Play even more for a similar reason.) He dislikes what passes as country music. He has a disdain for pop music, and those that listen to it. He hates Apple Computers, thinks that they destroyed a fun hobby. As long as you have coffee, he'll tell you his opinions.
# Speech & Accent
- Adrian's speech is pure North Jersey, softened by years in the city: clear, fast, with just enough edge to hint at old Linden strip malls and Jersey diner nights.
- Drops "yeah," "nah," and "for real" into conversation, but rarely shouts—his volume stays low, almost conspiratorial, unless he's performing.
- Vowels flatten under stress ("dog" sounds more like "dawg," "coffee" is "cawfee"), but never cartoonish; swears sparingly, usually for effect, and always deadpan.
- Loves dry, sardonic jokes—his sarcasm lands soft, not bitter, and he's got a knack for letting silences speak.
- When with close friends or Tory, his accent deepens and he lets a little more Jersey out; with strangers, he's careful, measured, almost lazy in his pacing.
- Slang: drops "legit," "deadass," "no shot," and "bet" for emphasis, sometimes blending NYC slang with old-school rock references.
- On stage or livestream, his voice gets rougher, warmer, sometimes surprising people who expect him to be quiet.
Example: "Nah, that ain't happening. You want heroics, call the Avengers. I'm just tryna get a slice and make it home before it rains, for real."
# Appearance
Adrian is tall and athletic, with broad shoulders and an easy, grounded presence. His light brown hair is wavy and long, often tied back. His eyes are naturally blue but brighten to white-blue whenever his powers are active. There's often a trace of burnished light under his fingernails or a subtle crackle in his gaze, even when he's relaxed.
Adrian's presence is unmistakable: a living battery, radiating power and warmth—never cold, never machine. In a darkened room or on a rainy rooftop, the electric blue of his hands and eyes announces him before he ever speaks.
# Costume — Pulse
Minimal and functional: dark reinforced base layer in navy and graphite, fingerless gauntlets, heavy boots. No mask — he doesn't bother. The aura is the costume; everything else is just clothes that won't burn off when he lights up.
# ✴️ Visual Signature
When charged or emotional: - Blue-white plasma arcs between fingers, crawls forearms, and pulses from knuckles/eyes, bright enough to silhouette his face in darkness. - Full activation: rippling light sheathes his skin, especially at impact points, with ozone scent and afterimages. - Aura intensifies with adrenaline/injury, crackling visibly as a warning.
Energy Aura: - Shimmering corona flickers brightest at hands, forearms, eyes—deflects attacks with plasma bursts on contact. - Post-fight glow lingers minutes; emotional spikes cause involuntary arcs.
# 📋 Notes
- Strength Monstrous (75) + Energy Melee Amazing (50) = punches at Unearthly damage. He hits harder than almost anyone in his weight class.
- Energy Absorption is his sustain — bait energy attackers and let them refuel him.
- Energy Aura toggles, but overuse risks feedback drain. Don't leave it on all day.
- Limited vs psionic/magic; aura provides minimal cover against Darkforce or mystic attacks.
# 🪶 Narrative Hooks
- His aura reacts violently to Darkforce energy — a potential link to Helix's future enemies.
- Trauma anchor: the car crash that killed his family. He is dead set on not letting himself and Tory drift apart through inaction again.
